Aluminaid Team Singapura Everest 2015

Aluminaid Team Singapura Everest 2015 was a great experience for me. I formed the team with 3 others in 2010 and worked hard to achieve our goal to climb Mt Everest in 2015 to celebrate Singapore's 50th National Day. The team started with 20 members in 2010. After 5 years, the team streamlined to the final five members. The team captain Md Hilwan was unable to climb due to medical reasons and was based in Singapore as our main Liaison Officer. I was co-captain and expedition leader for the Everest expedition, leading the brothers Ismail Latiff and Zulkifli Latiff, and Seumas Yeo.

The team was supported by a few main sponsors namely Aluminaid, Samwoh Corporation, Quantedge, Singtel, Miles & Molanders and the unwavering support from Mr Tan Chin Hwee who had played a crucial role in our sponsorhip hunt for the expedition.
​
However, it was unfortunate that our expedition was thwarted by an earthquake that triggered an avalanche on Everest base camp. The expedition was cancelled, unfinished. Before the earthquake, the team managed to climb through the famous Khumbu icefall during the first acclimatization climb. It was an inspiring moment for me and I hope to be back there again next year.
